Two Injured in MD Water Tanker Crash

A firefighter was taken to the hospital after the Tenth District VFD water tanker rolled over enroute to a fire in Prince George's County.

A crash between a Charles County fire vehicle and an SUV left two people injured Wednesday afternoon.

Officials told Fox5DC.com that the water tanker from the Tenth District Volunteer Fire Department was attempting to merge onto Route 210 when it collided with a SUV around 3:15 p.m.

The tanker rolled over, coming to rest on the driver's side on top of the SUV.

Fire officials said the driver of the apparatus was taken to the hospital, but the injuries were not serious.  

The SUV driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. 

According to TheBay.net, the tanker was responding to a structure fire in Danville, Prince George's County.

In a tweet from Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department, firefighters used a defensive attack on house fire on Accokeek Road.

The Charles County Sherriff's Office remained on scene investigating the crash and a heavy-duty wrecker was called in to life the tanker.
